We’ve seen all manner of Nissan nose swaps. There’s the Hakotora which takes a C10 Skyline mask and puts it on a Sunny Truck. But there’s also the Sunny nose on a Suzuki Carry or the R32 Skyline kit on a Suzuki Twin. But what about Toyota’s classic front ends? Well, now there’s a conversion that turns a Suzuki Jimny grille into a TE27’s.
The kits come courtesy of Beyond Japan, the same shop that created the B110 Sunny swap for the Jimny. This time they’ve created two new designs. The LE27 replaces the Jimny grille with that of a TE27 Corolla Levin. The TR27 kit does the same, but with a grille that resembles that of the TE27 Sprinter Trueno.
There are three versions of each kit available. It costs ¥68,200 ($425 USD) in basic unpainted FRP, ¥73,700 ($460 USD) in unpainted, ABS plastic, and ¥124,300 ($775 USD) in painted ABS. However, Beyond strongly recommends a ¥74,800 ($467 USD) short bumper to fully get the TE27 look with the swap.
It’s about time the Toyota twin-cam twins get some love. Their faces fit perfectly with the narrow frame of the Jimny. The proportions look right and give off a strong Showa vibe, especially with army green paint. It’s a bit surprising that it took this long for someone to make a TE27 kit. What other vehicles could use a classic Toyota grille?
