Honda’s reproduction parts program for the Acura NSX has finally made its way to the States. The Honda Heritage Parts program offers more than 3000 parts for the game-changing first-generation NSX, both NA1 and NA2 models. The parts will be available exclusively at Acura dealerships and online at Honda DreamShop.
The parts fall into two categories. Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts will be made using the same materials and production methods as the original parts. Honda Compatible Parts are newly developed parts that may not necessarily look identical but are designed to function in the exact same way as the parts they will replace. An ABS module, for example, would fall into the latter category.
“Honda Heritage Parts was created to help our customers enjoy their classic Acura and Honda performance models, and it’s appropriate that we begin with an iconic model like the first-generation Acura NSX,” said Mamadou Diallo, executive vice president at American Honda Motor. A careful reading of the statement indicates that heritage parts fo other models may follow.
The Heritage Parts program was launched in Japan in April as part of a greater Honda Heritage Works program, which offers factory approved restoration services. Despite consideration as far back as 2020, that initiative has not made its way across the Pacific, however. Nevertheless, the availability of OEM parts to support one of the most beloved sports cars of all time should ensure that they stay on the road and can be enjoyed for future generations.

Wow – extensive!
But I passed on an NSX for my track use because of known oiling issues, and instead have had an S2000 for 23 years. And while it’s retired from track use, these days it’s a joy to drive on the street, and especially on back roads.
To start with, what I need from Honda are the 20th Anniversary parts that came out a few years back and were almost unattainable in the U.S. Then their flow stopped, I think due to COVID. I want the improved coilovers and front nose cap that were developed in the wind tunnel. The product planner for those was an S2000 owner himself and said the shock rates were a modern update on the handling. These are replacement coilovers, in the original spirit that the S2000 perfected: a blend of sharp handling and a crisp ride.
There is also a need for the original oil filter, which is designed for the high-RPM oil flow and which Honda does not stock anymore. Nor is there a clear aftermarket alternative.
I really see the value of Honda itself doing this, and even 1,000 parts for the S2000 would be tremendously welcome. These cars should be preserved, and there is a core group of us endeavoring to do so.
