Honda announces reproduction parts program, starting with the NSX

Following on the heels of many Japanese carmakers in recent years, Honda has announced a reproduction parts program. The goal is to keep the company’s iconic classics on the road, and the first recipient of the program’s benefits is the incomparable first-generation Honda NSX.

Honda calls the items to be reproduced “genuine compatible parts”. The company says that the program was made possible by advancements in 3D printing and of technologies relating to manufacturing and procurement. Honda didn’t provide specifics, but likely this means cost-effective ways of making small batches of parts that meet Honda quality standards. (One example from Nissan was the advent of dieless panel forming that eliminates the need for large stamping tools).

At the same time, Honda Japan will launch a restoration service that uses these parts. Since 1993 Honda has offered an NSX Refresh plan in Japan. The menu ranges from a suspension and brake overhaul to a complete engine rebuild or paint. The new service will essentially replace NSX Refresh, and cars will no longer be accepted in to NSX Refresh in summer 2025, though no specific date was given.

Honda says that the parts program will be expanded to other “sports-type models” in the future. That will likely include other “discontinued models” such as the Type R family, S2000, and possibly Prelude. Honda quietly offering a similar program for the Beat in 2017.

Best of all, Honda has confirmed that the parts will be offered globally. The program kicks off in spring 2026, and more details will be available in fall 2025. With this announcement, Honda joins Nissan, Toyota, and Mazda in offering an official heritage parts program.
