Here’s another one of those wacky Hong Kong movies involving ridiculously implausible car chases and copious amounts of J-tin genocide. Although main players in this car chase from 1983’s Winners and Sinners are a Triumph Spitfire versus, uh, Jackie Chan on roller skates, there’s plenty of nostalgics whizzing by in the background and sacrificed for a colossal pileup. We’re talkin’ Celicas, Corollas, Nissan Violets, a Mazda 808 wagon, Mitsubishi Lancer, Galant, and even a Honda 145 Coupe! A Honda 145 Coupe! A Honda 145 Coupe! We just hope that the Starlet rolling on what appears to be Hayashi Command 800s at 1:41 wasn’t involved.
Hat tip to banpei.
If you wish you could sort through the wreckage, raise your hand. (It looked like the Starlet @ 1:41 s. made it by).
Cool video. They had more than one take-the Triumph had already been hit in the rear once @ 3:05. The RD250 he’s riding is closer linked to the RZ350 we got in the states. The US RD250 is a much different animal.
So that’s why all the old J-tin is so rare!
Jackie Chan is one of my favorite actors, better than Bruce Lee!
honda 1300 at the end … ouch
Ironically, the slowest vehicle in this scene would most likely have been the 1500 Spit (and yes, I am aware that there’s a VW Beetle in there.)
Hey, Watch what you say about the Spitfire. I happen to have a 1500 Spitfire and it’s not that much slower than the Beetle. (but it’s a lot more fun) I bet it could edge out the trailer truck though.
What, did the director just finish watching Blues Brothers when he made this?
There was a blue Daihatsu Charade at the beginning too!
Holy flying Jtin madness!
Glad you liked the tip! 😀
During the chase I also spotted multiple Nissan S110 Gazelles and a Carina. 😉
Man, that breaks my heart!
Looks like the same starlet at 0:50 in as well.
Trying to use the shift pedal and rear brake lever while wearing roller skates would be nearly impossible. I noticed an Austin Maxi did a big barrel roll. I owned one of those when I lived in England. It was surprisingly roomy, and a decently fun car to drive.
just before the red convertible gets hit up the arse 3:05 it already had rear end damage they must have had to re-shoot that crash.
Oh yeah! Green 1g Accord Sedan he’s holding on to at 1:47 right before he grabs onto the Mazda hatchback that takes off. At least that didn’t get wrecked. Shame about those 145s though! 🙁
I noticed the 1st gen 626 parked next to the TE72 Corolla. Ah yes, 2 of my former J-tins. 🙂
Alotta those J-tin had nice JDM rims and a few had fender mirrors.. I wouldn’t change a thing. lol
I actually just watched this on Saturday. It’s actually a pretty entertaining/funny movie, although there’s pieces that don’t make much sense. Recommended film for sure.
