Power-to-weight ratio is the key in this old Hot Version race in which Keiichi Tsuchiya and Akira Iida pit a pair of Toyota Starlets against an R34 Skyline GT-R and the Kei Office S15 Silvia. The Drift King puts it all on the table in a classic David vs Godzilla battle, but the ending may not be what you expect.
Tsuchiya’s KP61 is a TS-spec 4K, while Iida wheels a supercharged 4A-GZE. On the books, a stock R34 GT-R has 276 horsepower, but probably more. It also weighs more than double what a stock KP61 does.
Here’s another video, taped before the race, showing nothing but the Drift King epically hooning the Starlets before their fates befall them. These are just many of the Best Motoring videos recently uploaded.
Sugoi!
Always loved watching the Best Motoring videos, if it wasnt for them I wouldn’t love the classics I love today. Seeing tsuchiya san rip around in the hachi s of yester year help me find the potential in old mazdas to compare and feed my love of the rotary!
You cannot overcome mass and physics, the ability of a simple FR with a bit of extra hp
cannot be denied !
SOMEWHERE there must be a usable chassis to make a new one… Would almost certainly lower the median purchaser age.
