El Paso, Texas is located precisely in the middle of nowhere. The only interesting things within a 500-mile radius are 1.) the site of the first atom bomb explosion in White Sands National Park and 2.) Roswell, New Mexico, where locals believe a UFO landed in 1947. Perhaps these strange nearby happenings stem from the fact that El Paso is the nexus of the universe.
How else can you explain the presence of both Datsun Drive and Toyota Road, which just happen to intersect with each other? And not too far away, Yamaha Drive and Yamaha Road exist for motorcycle fans. It would probably be a great place for a nostalgic car meet if you didn’t have to drive through 500 miles of empty desert to get there, and if the neighborhood didn’t have houses that looked like secret meth labs. How about you JNCers out there, any interesting street names in your neck of the woods?
I swtiched to Google Street view and just up Toyota Road on the right hand side is a mid 80’s Toyota Supra (Celica). How serendipitous.
Wow, you weren’t kidding when you said secret meth labs.
Typed into Google maps, “Datsun Rd, Honda Rd, and Toyota Rd” and found a good number of results. But that’s really interesting.
I have a photo of my Prince Gloria going around a round-a-bout on Prince Ave in Mount Maunganui, NZ.
There is a neighborhood a friend of mine lives in that has all american car street names. Streets with names like “mustang”, “Polara”, “Eldorado”, “DeVille”, etc. Entire neighborhood. Kinda interesting, wonder if I can find it on google maps.
Here we go. Seriously, the entire neighborhood is car street names.

Let’s try this again. Didn’t work the first time.
UGH! Still no luck.
You got the address at least, google map it and it’ll pop up.

How do you know Yamaha Road or Drive wasn’t named for the builder of the SHO V-6? Or some of Toyota’s better engines?

Those are both part of Yamaha. Same company that makes the jet skis and drum sets too.
now if only there were a toyota highway somewhere….
Whoah, I did ‘street view’ and thought my computer had loaded up San Fierro from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Makes me want to beat some guy up, steal a car and go mental slaloming through the suburbs until I have a 100mph crash and walk away unscathed.
