The NFL will be running a series of tailgate party-themed ads in the upcoming season, and some classic Toyotas are about to get prominent placement. Here are some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot, courtesy of the JCCS. In one a poor, checker-trousered pigskin fan gets his finger caught by a Toyopet Crown’s trunklid.
In another, an FJ55 Land Cruiser is shown behind a parking lot barbecue. Other vintage cars will be featured as well, but it’s great that old Toyotas are finally being recognized as part of the automotive landscape from this era.
That’s so cool! 🙂
Very cool indeed
Is a Tercel 4WD Wagon in the running (no gibes, now…)?
Hope, hope, hope!
ARCHINSTL, I’d bet on it. A friend of mine was on the set for one of these commercials (possibly not this one) and he sent photos of cars involved with the shoot. One was a Cressida, the other was a Tercel 4WD.
But who was behind all this? Has JNC planted a mole at the advertisement agency?
And who owns the cars?
The cars I’d seen photos of (Cressida and Tercel 4WD) were from the Toyota USA Museum. Even the Land Cruiser and Toyopet shown here seem almost identical to cars in the same collection.
Yep, they are from the Toyota Museum. But that’s about all I know.
