The 3-piece take on classic RS-Watanabe 8-spoke wheel is back. After 30 years the iconic wheel company has released an updated version of the Watanabe RS8. This time around, they collaborated with Work Wheels to create the RS8R, which incorporates Work’s deep step-lip barrel for a more aggressive look. As it happens, the first set in the US will be on display at the JNC booth at the upcoming Japanese Classic Car Show.
Unlike its predecessor, the new RS8R comes in super-deep sizes up to 10.5J. The only diameter is 15 inches. An O-disc version with positive offsets is available with widths ranging from 5.0J to 6.5J and a PCD of 100×4, or 7.0J to 7.5J with a PCD of 114.3×4. An A-disc version with negative offset sizes go from 8.0J to 10.5J and come in a 114.3×4 bolt pattern only.
Standard color will be the classic RS-Watanabe gunmetal gray with a polished lip, but a silver metallic face will also be available. Prices range from ¥55,000 ($375 USD) to ¥80,000 ($546 USD) depending on size, and each wheel is made to order in Japan. Shipping from Japan is available, but you have to contact the company.
If you want to check out the wheels in person, the Watanabe RS8R in a staggered 15×8+0 and 15×8.5-6 fitment will be on display on Jay Kho’s DR30 Nissan Skyline at the JNC booth at JCCS 2024 next week.
Last but not least,JNC readers can use the coupon code “JNC5” for a $5 discount on show tickets. Admission is $20 in advance on the JCCS website, $25 at the gate (though the code will only work via online sales). The show will be held at Marina Green in Long Beach, California on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Those are really nice! If I had a second set of wheels for my Z, this would be it, with the dark centers.
