Remember that Allstate Insurance ad where the guy drives his little Defender all over town, revealed at the end to be entirely situated on a tiny island that you could drive across and back before your tea kettle boiled? Well, it turns out you can rent an entire island villa on your next vacation to Japan, and it comes with its own FJ40 Land Cruiser.
The hotel is called Ritomaru Villa, located on Iki Island, Nagasaki, in the Sea of Japan. The house consists of four bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. There appears to be an outdoor barbecue with an ocean view as well.
The surrounding area offers hiking, bike routes, fishing, and snorkeling. Or, you can tour the small island or just chill at the villa, which is pet-friendly. After the year we’ve just had people are looking to get away, but even so the idea of spending an entire holiday on a remote island sounds like hell to me, although the Land Cruiser does add a certain charm. If this is your bag, however, then you can rent Ritomaru Villa for about $650 a night.
Hell you say? Sounds more like Heaven to me and a great chance to get away from the daily grind!
Oh yeah, except for the part where Japan still isn’t letting filthy gaijin like me come over there 🙂
Probably an expensive hotel
