Recently my 7-year-old has become obsessed with DVDs. He was born in an age where everything you could ever want to watch is on-demand. He can’t fully grasp it when I explain (in old prospector’s voice) that back in my day, you had to remember what time your show airs, sit through the opening credits, endure commercial breaks, and wait a week for the next episode. Sure, DVDs aren’t that archaic, but they aren’t as “convenient” as Netflix either, yet he loves holding the physical disc, seeing the art on it, sorting the boxes. I realized that very few things in his world are tangible: video games, music, books, photo albums, receipts, calculators, maps, etc. Here’s hoping that his love for DVDs translates into a love or analog cars as he gets older, outdated as they might be.

There are so many great JGTC liveries. We can’t really argue with a headliner like Lavender Null‘s choice of a top-dog GT500 Honda NSX in Raybrig or Castrol graphics, nor can we dismiss the colors of a Japanese institution like Autobacs on Ian G.’s Monocraft GT-300 MR-S or the Asparadrink/Matsumoto Kiyoshi warpaint on TheJWT‘s RE Amemiya RX-7.
Some liveries are just family-friendly fun, j_c‘s pick of the APR Racing’s Lightning McQueen MR-S or Team Mach’s Speed Racer Vemac. Speaking of iconic Japanese liveries on non-Japanese cars, dankan‘s Yellow Corn McLaren and ra21benj‘s Advan Porsche 964 were also excellent candidates.
The winner this week is Tom Ellis and his nomination of a plucky privateer team that went up against the big boys with a Miata:

The red stripe down the middle was so distinctive even now you can look at old photographs and spot it a mile off. Can’t see it from the front? The spoiler uprights in the same red against the white bodywork make it stand out just as easily from the side.
Probably not as shouty with it’s sponsorship decals as some other answers you will be getting but I think that just adds to its charm.

I enjoy reading a good, old-school, printed ink on paper Owner’s Manual for my car(s). No looking something up on the screen (which won’t work when the battery is dead and you’re looking for the jump points), no having to look something up online and then having to check the result at three different sources because AI is always wrong, and who knows if some random forum member remembers it correctly, just the official factory owner’s manual with a glossary sitting in the glovebox to tell me exactly what the torque setting needs to be for the wheels I’m rotating or the exact amount of oil to add when changing it with the filter.
A couple of years ago I got into cassette tapes. I’ve been collecting new and old tapes and listening to them on my tape deck since. I also bought a bunch of brand new blank tapes so the current plan is first get my JNC working – And then get a cassette player working in the JNC, so I can listen to self-made mixtapes on the road.
