Pioneer’s retro head unit and parcel shelf speakers are here in the US

Great news for American automotive audiophiles: Pioneer’s recent 80s-inspired car stereo and box speakers are now available in the US. When Pioneer announced these throwback products earlier this year, they were announced for the Japanese and European markets. But with a little modification, you can now purchase them stateside,

Announced back in April, the Pioneer SXT-C10PS is a single-DIN head unit that looks like an old school head unit, inspired by Pioneer’s own KEH-series receivers of the 80s. There’s even a flap for a cassette deck, but when you actually open it, the door reveals inputs for AUX and USB connections. It’s Bluetooth compatible, and the RGB values of the illumination can be adjusted to suit any car.

In May, Pioneer followed up with Carrozzeria TS-X40 parcel shelf speakers to mark the sub-brand’s 40th anniversary. The 3-way boxes featured a tweeter, midrange, and driver in each enclosure. For the US market they’ve changed the model name to TS-X40SXT and the branding to read Pioneer, since Carrozzeria was a Japan-only name. Also, while the logos of the Japanese versions  light up in blue, the US-market variants don’t appear to illuminate.

Both products use the classic Pioneer font with the old tuning fork and omega logo. The modern italicized logo is nowhere to be seen. And with official support for the US market, you’ll be guaranteed that all AM and FM frequencies will lock on to stations clearly. You can order the Pioneer SXT-C10P ($500) and the TS-X40SXT ($300 for the pair) directly from the Pioneer website.
