Old Tokyo photos oozing with Japanese nostalgic cars

Nishi-Shinjuku

We recently stumbled upon a thread of old Tokyo photos on the architecture site SkyscraperCity. Though the focus was the buildings, we came for the cars. Just look at these pictures and dream of being amongst these machines when they were still new.

Crowns everywhere…very cool. And many B110’s.
Think I see a Pontiac in the second to last photo.

If I had a 126X I would park it on shag carpet also.

Great Pics! Loved riding the Haneda Monorail, and that pic is exactly as I remembered it.

It was sad to see the classic city street cars quickly eliminated in the 70’s. The taxi cabs would cheat and pass cars by going on their cobblestone lined tracks, and the tires on the cobblestones made such a cool sound.

F**k, that’s my childhood right there!!

That’s a G130 Cedric in the last photo behind the white 1600. Would have loved to see one as new…
