For the latest and craziest in women’s fashion, you turn to the runways of Paris. For the latest and craziest in automotive tuning, we look to the Tokyo Auto Salon. But like costumes on the catwalk, you might find yourself face to face with the vehicular equivalent of a Mobius Strip hat made of dead peacocks. Thank goodness there’s an increasing amount of J-tin to class up the joint!
Case in point: the above yonmeri Skyline that received the coveted “Alexi’s Favorite Car of the Show” award. Be sure to check out Nori Yaro and Speedhunters for many more pics.
You might see a Toyota FT-86 G Sports Turbo next to an original AE86 Sprinter Trueno in Fujiwara Tofu livery, a Nissan Stagea with a hakosuka Skyline nose grafted to the front end and creased to the taillights, or an iced-out Isuzu 117 Coupe on Work Equip 03s (thanks, JT191).
But it’s a recent phenomenon to see a clean Nissan Fairlady S30 Z-L (Kev says the L stands for “Luxury”), the BILS race-spec B210 Sunny, or meticulously restored hakos and those undergoing meticulous restoration. These were most likely part of a Nostalgic Hero promo for their Nos2Days event. Click on all of those links!

People pull crap like that Stagea just cause they can, not cause it looks good(or bad).
I’m not a Skyline fan(probably the only one!) but that four door you’ve got pictured made my heart go thumpity thump!
Whats with the Military Jeep next to the Stagea? Real Willys MB, or a disguised Nissan Safari?
Is anybody still offering tours to Japan to attend this event? I’m finally back on my feet financially and can afford to go.
Jim
Jim, if you pay my expenses I’ll be happy to show you around Japan! =D
