Nissan unleashes trio of throwback concepts for SEMA

Nissan has revealed three retro-themed concepts ahead of the 2026 SEMA Show. The lineup includes Z-cars from the first and latest generations, as well as a callback to a beloved sport sedan from the 90s.

The current B19-chassis Nissan Sentra is a great entry-level car with surprisingly sharp styling, but its budget-oriented drivetrain is a let-down. There aren’t The Nissan Sentra Spec-V Concept takes care of that by turbocharging its 2.0-liter twin-cam four to generate 300 horsepower through a 6-speed manual transmission and helical LSD taken from the Juke NISMO RS.

Oddly, Nissan calls it a homage to the B13 Sentra SE-R. “Thirty-five years after the Sentra SE-R arrived in North America, Nissan is revisiting the spirit of the beloved sport compact with the Sentra Spec-V concept.” Heralded as one of the greatest sport compacts of the 90s, those are big tires to fill.

Though Nissan’s press release doesn’t mention it, the name seems to reference a lesser-known — and underrated — version of the B15. For just two years, from 2002-03, Nissan offered the Sentra SE-R Spec V, a performance-tuned variant with more power, 6MT, helical LSD, and styling inspired by the Skyline GT-R. The 2002 model even came with red seats, which this concept appears to reference.

Rounding out the mods are a wide-body kit from Bomex, 19×9.5 forged NISMO LM-RS1 wheels, and Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 tires. It also pilfers the Recaros, front brakes, and rear wing from an R35 GT-R. Last but not least are some simple but classy BRE stripes on its flanks.

Next up is an S30 Z powered by a 400-horsepower twin-turbo V6 and 6MT swapped from a modern RZ34 Nissan Z. It’s the latest build from Formula D champ Chris Forsberg, and this isn’t his first Z. With RZ34 Seiran Blue paint over loads of carbon fiber and 17×9 NISMO LM-RS6 wheels, it very much looks the part of a restomodded Z.

The rest of the build reads like a typical SEMA roll call: OMP seats, Wilwood brakes, Speedhut gauges, and a Grip Royal steering wheel. The underside is pinned with Techno Toy Tuning billet suspension and coilover package.

Our favorite of the three is the Project NAT2 SCCA Touring 2 Z, built after hours by an in-house team of Nissan engineers. The name comes from the Nissan Acceleration Team, comprised of motorsport-obsessed gearheads to meet SCCA Touring 2 class guidelines.

The engine is surrounded by a smorgasbord of NISMO parts, from cold-air intake to exhaust, while Z1 Motorsports supplied components such as the aluminum oil pan and diff cooler. The story continues underneath, with NISMO coilovers, control arms, and sway bars, all mounted with Z1 polyurethane bushings.

Best of all is the custom livery by NISMO Design Japan, which evokes everything from SCCA and IMSA Zs from the late 70s to Group C race cars from the 90s. The graphics suit the Z’s contours perfectly and make for a fitting tribute to Nissan’s international racing efforts.

All three cars will be displayed at the Nissan booth at the SEMA Show, which runs from November 3-6, 2026 in Las Vegas.
