Nissan 240SX barn find gets first wash in almost 30 years

In Japanese tradition an osoji (literally “big clean”) is conducted to welcome in the new year with a fresh start. Therefore, here is a 45-minute video in which a barn find Nissan 240SX gets a thorough wash and detail. It’s extremely satisfying to watch an S13/mouse residence get its first wash in almost three decades.

When WD Detailing finds the car on an Ohio farm, it’s been sitting in an open shed since 1996. The car is so completely covered in 28 years of accumulated dirt that they can’t even tell what color it was (the pignose is, of course, Charcoal gray). Turns out at least one mouse also found, lived, and died in it sometime since Tiger Woods made his PGA debut.

The detailers power wash the car, marveling at details like the automatic seat belts and pop-up headlights. One says he was born in 1996 and makes us feel extremely old. We’re also impressed that the youngins cleaned surfaces typically not visible, like under the fuel sender access plate and center console. The interior in particular, which was covered in mouse droppings, looks incredible when they’re done with it.

Sadly, as it sat it collected moisture under the rear spoiler, which resulted in a couple of rust holes made visible when the detailers removed the wing to clean beneath it. They were also not able to start the car, but at this point the fuel tank might need a complete flush and some marvel mystery oil dumped into the KA24. Nevertheless, it is a complete and bone stock manual transmission 240SX. Hopefully the now-clean car gets a second lease on life.
