Though Mazda‘s big reveal at the LA Auto Show was the new CX-3 (and a facelifted Mazda 6 (and a facelifted CX-5)), the car that caught our eyes was hidden in an alcove in the back, a 2016 MX-5 Miata in white, like a proper Japanese car should be.
White brings out its crisp origami lines much better.
The Miata may have started out as a tribute to departed British roadsters, but after 25 years of evolution while staying unmistakably Miata, it’s become an icon of its own.
Great pics!
I agree it looks fantastic in white and gunmetal wheels
Yes, the white lines (don’t cha get to high baby
Why cant they throw a rotary in this thing? Why build a new chassis?
^I think they are afraid of the inevitable:
LSx
🙂
Can’t wait for the hard top… in white. Better yet, Coupe’. I hope they went the extra inch for a good exhaust tone to round out the “experience”.
I guess that one line applies here, “If it looks good in white, it’s got a good shape.”
There was a write up or article i read somewhere that went into more details about japanese sports cars and the color white being the “proper” color… I just cant seem to find it on the web anymore…
I think that was us, in this post:

Yeah, sounds familiar.
I swear i remember reading it as though it was like a e-magazine/blog opinion piece or something though that built an argument through examples, etc. Maybe not.
(maybe I’m a bit overly invested in this topic: my garage has a White NA miata, white s13, and i sold my orange s30 to keep an eye out for a white one someday.)
