NEWS: More images of Mitsubishi Evo concept revealed

Mitsubishi has revealed two new images of its next Evolution model. Called the e-Evolution, it is said to combine the automaker’s greatest strengths — all wheel drive, electrification, and off-roading prowess.

Back when the first teaser image was released, we thought that it was less Lancer Evolution and more Pajero Evolution. Now that we’ve seen these images, we’re not sure quite what to think. It seems to be, design-wise at least, a melding of the two. Or it could just be a cynical revival of a hallowed name to grab attention on a car that bears no resemblance whatsoever.

There’s also this:

A special coaching function allows the AI system to transfer knowledge to the driver, and to unobtrusively enhance the driving expertise. After building a picture of the driver’s skill level, the system constructs a training program that provides advice through voice dialogue and a large dashboard display. As a result, drivers of all abilities quickly experience a vehicle that behaves the way they want it, and soon they find themselves enjoying the driving experience to an even greater degree.

Make of it what you will. The Mitsubishi e-Evolution concept will be shown at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show starting October 25.

It’s a freakin’ CUV!! An Evo on the chassis of a Panjero!!

Glad Mitsubishi is going that route. Looking at what the Tesla Model S P100D can do, it’s only a matter of time before Mitsubishi gets there.

A concept is a concept but its good Mitsubishi is getting pushed in creating these types of vehicles. That way, hopefully the Eclipse or Lancer Evolution gets revived. A bit off topic but I bet when the Lancer Evolution is revived, I bet it will be an homage to the Evo 1.

My first thought was, Lancia Stratos?? Are they aiming along that line for their next rally car?

  4. Ryan S. says:

This whole design is like a checklist of design elements from this week’s QotW

  5. Matt D says:

So why the f*@! do they need to call it an Evo?

  6. Mark Newton-John says:

    Let it go…
The Eclipse is dead. Long live the Eclipse.

The answer is simple. Mitsubishi is calling their performance vehicles Evolution, like AMG, Quattro, G’s, NISMO, et al…

This ain’t the 90s anymore, and the reason Celicas, Eclipses, 200SX, etc are gone, people stopped buying them. I’ve been waiting for a Corolla coupe in the US since the AE92… And no, the tC (close) and the 86 (not even) aren’t Corollas. Probably will never happen either. On that note, I hate that the 86 is NOTHING like the Corolla, yet they’re playing off of the name. (sound FAMILIAR???) so don’t bitch Mitsubishi is calling another car an Eclipse.
