At a current bid of $8,100 is yesterday’s Kidney Car a bit too rich for your blood? Perhaps then a Hot Wheels Subaru BRAT would be kinder to your wallet. Though slated for later this year, renderings have been leaked to the intarwebs. The little Gipper-mobile appears to have rollbar spotlights, roo bars and a slight lift.
MA61 fans should also hold on to their collective pants right now, because renderings for a second-gen Celica Supra have also hit the Series of Tubes.
Those of you made in the 80s may remember this model when it was first released in 1982. Both of these cars will be part of the premium Hot Ones series that retail for a bit more than regular Hot Wheels, but will come in slick retro-themed graphics and packaging. We can’t wait to relive our childhood.
Awesome. I just picked up the slammed yellow El Camino and love it. Can’t wait to find the RX7’s and these two as well. Can we get a BRAT in Subaru blue, please? 😀
Ken Meri – got it !
Rx-7 – got it !
Hakosuka – need it !
Subaru Brat – need it !
Supra – had it, need it !
(If you don’t understand, you are to young).
I don’t get it!
And, I’m over 50! 🙂
(Matchbox had one, not sure about Hotwheels).
Right now the garage sitting under the laptop stand contains (in order from left to right):
Kenmeri, Hakosuka, TR6, 510, 2002, RX7
I must most certainly add a brat to that list.
LOL! Looks like the lineup in one of my “tackle” boxes!
Really looking forward to both of these. Hot Wheels is on a swing with all the JNC they been making! 🙂
Any news on what the “’87 Toyota (New tool!)” will be, scheduled to be released in Mix 7?
The ’87 Toyota is going to be a pickup. That’s all I know for now… 🙂
I remember getting a hot wheels ‘junkyard playset’ when I was a kid. It that came with a red ’82 Supra that you would use to put in the sets little car crusher. I think by twisting a knob, the car goes down a chute out of sight, and a little plastic cube comes out the the other end representing the compacted Supra. Long story short, I don’t have many hot wheels or matchbox cars left, but that little Supra is one of them.
i have a giant tub at my parents’ house. i’ll have to go pick through all my ancient JNC’s.. i have like 4 hiluxes from matchbox, and a brat..
Hotwheels did have a Supra in the past. Wonder if this is a re-cast or a new one?
It’s the same cast, with a new paint scheme.
Most of Mattel’s Hot Ones tools (at least cars that have disappeared and come back) are new tools–though they are largely indistinguishable from the ’80s ones. Sunagon, Flat Out 442 … new tools to look like old ones but with very subtle differences, mostly on the chassis.
Yeah, I bought one from Jeff Koch at the JCCS a couple of years ago.
Oh, stop blaming me, Scott.
ps–I’ll be at ToyotaFest hawking my wares…will you?
They also released an s30 at some point last year but was only lucky enough to find it at the local grocer. I hope they release it again this year with some new paint. I also would love some z31’s. I just picked up the blue rx-7 variant this morning and its way better in person. Great job to hotwheels and Jun Imai for making all these classics reality.
Need/must add more! Lolz. Currently got the Hako, (need to add the Kenmeri), the AE86, 240z, 2002, 510, RX7, TR6, 70’s Mustang, Camaro, Fastback, GT500, we need more of them Datsuns! And some old school Toyotas such as the Celica GT, Corolla (Mangoes), Sports 800, Fairlady Roadster (if they can do TR6, they can do the roadster), some Datsun trucks and some Mazda RX2’s, RX3’s, etc.
Bosozoku 2KGT as well 😉
I hope they put in the jump seats!
I have a couple of the Supra’s in mint condition from my childhood. Both red, one with chrome wheels and one with gold. Guess I will need one of these too. And Brat?! Yes!
Good stuff, and I’ll be hoarding spares of all of ’em. If only HW would do an RX3 and a Datsun Fairlady roadster …
