Toyota is working on two supercars; here is one of them

Lexus surprised showgoers at The Quail during Monterey Car Week by unveiling a new supercar concept. The company gave very little information on what it actually was, other than stunning. However, it’s just one of the supercars that Toyota, a carmaker once described as boring, is reportedly developing.

The Lexus Sport Concept has several design elements reminiscent of the Lexus LFA, such as the wings behind the side glass and vertical vents below the headlights and taillights. But it also resembles an evolution of the Lexus Electrified Sports Car concept shown in 2021. Lexus gave no powertrain details, resulting in some speculation on whether it was battery powered, or if the ports beneath the spoiler were for exhaust.

The car is different from the GR GT3 that was recently seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. That prototype had a distinct turbo V8 exhaust note. Incidentally, Best Car is claiming that a reliable source says while the GT3 race car version will be delivered at the end of 2025, the roadgoing version will be delayed.

Lexus only had a vague PR-speak statement to give. “The progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sportscar signals the way forward for Lexus design. This inspiring concept car features a wide, low-profile two-door form that blends dynamic and emotional elements into a vision for a next-generation sports car.”

No matter what the powertrain, the Sport Concept is striking to look at. With the IS500, RC, and LC500h all on the chopping block, the number of performance-oriented Lexi is dropping fast. Hopefully the production version of this car will carry the torch.
