This immaculate 1977 Toyota Celica hails from America’s Dairyland but you won’t be getting any swiss cheese here. The seller says it has never been driven in Wisconsin’s harsh winters and contains absolutely zero sheetmetal dings. It has most of its dealership documents, the original tires, and only 14,105 miles! Look at that sumptuous tan interior. We can smell the vinyl now.
Okay, so it’s brown. But we dig the retro hue. Slight more inexcusable, however, is the three-speed slushbox. Luckily, Celica firewalls come pre-drilled with a small plate for the clutch’s pedal-to-master pass-through. In other words, a manual swap is 100% reversible for judging at Pebble Beach 2025. More pics after the jump, or see it on eBay.
Hat tip to Scooter3.
now thats a real kidney
What’s wrong with a brown car? Mines 70’s brown and it’s hot! π
Oddly enough, Jalopnik has a “Flamed” Celica for $6200!!

Yeah the comentors on Jalopnik are stupid. Its only decals and mats. Easy to put back to stock.
Looks like the rims have been painted and the tires flipped so the whitewalls are on the inside.
Mmm that mint tan interior is to die for!
Thanks for the kind words guys I am going to miss her I wanted to hot rod the thing but when it was delivered I just could not do it.
If these are “just Japanese” cars, then where are all these minty fresh garage queens coming from? It seems to me like a lot more people care about their J-tin than we know!
And I seem to recal the guys from Jalopnik saying that these Celicas were rare, and then in the same article complain about the high price of a car “that can be found anywhere”!
It’s always nice to see people on mainstream blogs who appreciate J-tin, but for every one there’s 5 more who don’t get it. I hope you guys are schooling them π
Car looks in real good shape and there is nothing wrong with a brown car. I had a tan coloured Toyota T-19 which I loved and being a Japanese Toyota never had any trouble with it.
that brown pulls at my heartstrings.
nearly bought one as my first car in the 80’s
The big bumpers always spoiled the look of American imports.
The Aussie version had smaller more subtle bumpers
just my 2.3c
Julian, you’re not alone. Most Americans would agree with you π
Sold for: $14,200.00 USD. Damn. I wonder what the sticker price was back in 1977 (adjusted for inflation of course).
