Despite its status as a formidable drift chassis in Japan, the A31 Nissan Cefiro looks to the rest of the world like an average late-80s sedan. That’s exactly what makes it the perfect stunt vehicle for Protector 2, the action-packed martial arts film in which a Cefiro engages in a car chase with, of all things, a B13 Sentra.
It’s clear that the producers picked up an ex-drift car, as the Cefiro is rocking mismatched wheels, a roll cage, and a large intercooler (which mysteriously disappears later in the scene). It’s pure suspension-of-disbelief-ville, but you still get to see a Cefiro do its thing on the silver screen.
Who is the villain here? The cefiro? What’s going on?
I’ve always liked the look of this Cefiro. I was in Northern Japan circa 1990 and my commander drove a green one. I must admit I was a bit envious and still think the looks of this gen hold up today.
