Here are some actual Tomica cars to go with your Tomica chocolates

For a number of years now Tomica has been offering car-shaped chocolates. The unfortunate thing with chocolate, though, is that once you eat it it’s gone. The alternative would be to get this newer form Tomica valentine, where you receive an actual (inedible) toy car, and the chocolate comes in the traditional red-and-white box that typically contains the car.

It seems that for 2025 the only options are a Nissan Skyline and Nissan Fairlady Z. The classic chocolate shaped cars are still available but seem to consist mostly of construction and emergency vehicles, with the exception of  an R35 GT-R and Mitsuoka Rockstar. The pinnacle of the chocolates, in terms of JNCs, was 2013-14 when they offered classic Japanese cars in candy form, with everything from a Toyota 2000GT to a Honda S800 to a choco Hako. Could there be some of those still kicking around in some mad collector’s fridge? Happy Valentine’s Day from JNC!

    Never saw them here.

  2. Tried to look for Tomica versions of Stellantis – formerly PSA Peugeot Citroen and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford of Europe – even though Ford no longer has presence(s) in Japan since 2016, Volvo and other European carmakers’ cars but judging by the fact that Tomica is a Japanese company, then its clear that majority of its (Tomica’s) offerings are Japanese cars – especially when the toys are were sold in South Korea for example.

If Tomica were offering die-cast versions of the aforementioned Euro car manufacturers’ products and they get paired with chocolates, then options like Alfa Romeo’s original GTV – whose tail lights are similar in appearance with the 240Z (S30 Fairlady Z), Mito, Giulietta, 156, its mechanical sibling GT, Brera, Giulia, Stelvio and Tonale, Peugeot’s 206, 207, 208 – the third one with its first generation model, 307, 308, RCZ, 406 and 407 coupes, 505, 3008 and 5008, Jeep’s Renegade and Avenger, Ford’s Fiesta and Focus – each generations of these Fords had mechanical relations with Mazda, Volvo’s V40 and XC40 – each of them also have Ford / Mazda connections, etc would be interesting when each of these cars having their Tomica variants to be partnered with chocolates…

Tomica *did* make a MK2 Focus, though it’s the RS model. Same for Volvos, they made the C40 Recharge and the XC60.
It’s a shame they don’t make many foreign cars nowadays, usually it’s just those that happened to be the COTY winners like the (again) XC60, C8 Corvette and the BMW i4.
And back in the late 70s they had an entire line dedicated to Euro and US imports 🙁
