Happy 929 Day from JNC

The HC-generation Mazda 929 is oft forgotten, but Mazda’s ads at the time positioned it as a luxury sedan that could deliver better performance than the European brands for two-thirds the price. Come to think of it, that’s also their formula today. Happy 929 Day from JNC!

I called the toll free number but don’t think it was about Mazda at all, lol. An automated message in Spanish was playing and unfortunately, I don’t understand Spanish.

I also wonder why Mazda didn’t bring the pillar less sedan in the 80s. It looked much better than this design, in my opinion. Happy 929 day to you as well.

You piqued my curiosity. Being bilingual in English and Spanish, I called the number. It’s just a boilerplate “We’re sorry, we’re not available to take your call. Please leave your name, number and reason for your call, and we’ll return your call” with zero indication of who currently has the number.

Some Googling did tell me that, in 2012, the Center for Foreclosure Protection (a.k.a. ShortSaleMeNow.com) had that number.

I own a ’92 929. Although I prefer my HD, the HC has a unique design and I love those pop ups. These use to get rotaries too if I’m not mistaken, very cool! Happy 929 day!

HC did not have the Pop Up headlights might be thinking of previous gen and the HB Cosmo. Yes the Japanese line up, called the Luce there, did get a rotary trim package. Most easily found one when searching Google is the Luce Royal Classic. They came with the Turbo II based 13B, auto trans and same Viscous type LSD as the 89-91 turbo FC.

Ha, thanks for checking out the number. I was curious about it too!

I wish I never sold my 90 929 S with the DOHC v6 but at the time I had my FC and NA miata too and didn’t have the time, money or space for a 3rd car. :[
