I don’t think I have ever seen a vintage Isuzu for sale with an asking price that exceeds $5,000 this comfortably. But in my opinion, it doesn’t get much better than this 1984 Isuzu Impulse with just under 34,000 miles.
This one owner car, up for sale in SoCal with a staggering BuyItNow price of $8,500, is said to have zero rust and be in all original condition. Aside from a slightly deformed front spoiler, and a few minor scuffs here and there, the car looks to be in amazing condition overall.
Personally, if I had to complain, or better yet, find some bargaining chips, I would let the seller know that I was really looking for an Impulse with a 5-speed gearbox, and a car with any interior color other than the hideous teal blue this car is sporting.
But beggars really can’t be choosers in a situation like this. The first generation Impulse is on the fast track to becoming a collector car. With it’s wedge shaped 80s styling penned by the world famous Giorgetto Giugiaro and the badge of a dead marque, there’s no telling what these cars will be valued at over the coming years. As an owner of a JR Impulse myself, I say, “the sky’s the limit!” See the auction on eBay.

That’s a nice looking car! Love how clean the engine bay is, I’ve seen a lot of younger cars with less miles and much greasier engines.
Collectable, really ? As rare as they may be those cars are still sent to the crushers in Australia.

Was never impressed with these back in the day but now I can say that the spaceship looking pilot position, the rear opening hood and the wedge styling scream 80’s and I have too admit I would probably drive it…..

I have to say, I will be shocked if anyone bites at that asking price. I paid less than half that for my car, and despite some mechanical issues that needed sorting, its just as nice and has more desirable options. That said, this car IS really nice, and if I had to put a more conservative tag on it, I would say $4,500-$5,000 would be about right. These cars are getting very, very rare, and to find them in this kind of condition does not happen often. For me though, this early model lacks the later installed turbo, and the auto trans also kinda takes away some of the want. And that hideous blue interior just kills it for me. But still, a very, very nice example that would make someone happy no doubt.
Is it the lighting, or does the right front quarter panel paint not match the rest of the car?
Have owned the Australian Piazza 2lt Turbo variety – fantastic car.
