Tomica celebrates 30 years of ‘Initial D’ with detailed premium sets of AE86, RX-7, S13, and more

Great news for Hachiroku fans this AE86 Day. Tomica has announced a set of highly detailed toy cars in honor of Initial D‘s 30th anniversary. The cars include Takumi’s iconic Toyota AE86, Keisuke’s Mazda RX-7, Iketani’s Nissan Silvia, and a replica of the Fujiwara Tofu Shop.

The cars are part of the Tomica Premium Unlimited line, which specializes in vehicles from movies and TV shows. They’re more detailed than regular Tomica and sometimes come with moving parts like opening doors.

However, some of the Initial D anniversary specials include additional bits. The AE86 and RX-7 each come with highly detailed dashboards of their respective cars. Takumi’s Sprinter Trueno set even contains his famously unspilled water cup attached to the vents. Of course, anyone who’s owned an AE86 knows that the vents are barely strong enough to hold a feather, let alone a full cup of liquid. Each car also has an acrylic display case and a plaque depicting the driver of the car.

Not to be left out, Iketani-senpai’s seafoam green S13 also makes the cut. It doesn’t have the display case or the dashboard, but it does have opening doors (Both the AE86 and RX-7 have pop-up headlights as well).

Last but not least is a playset of the world’s most famous tofu shop. The ordinary-looking building even comes with a figure of wise Bunta Fujiwara, arms folded, evaluating your driving skills. The lower window lights up in white, while the upper window lights up in either green or red, to show Bunta’s silhouette, phone in hand, making calls to assist in Takumi’s progress from behind the scenes.

The Toyota and Mazda sets will retail for ¥4,730 each, the Nissan ¥1,430, and the tofu shop ¥5,280. All four will be released December 2025.
