Let’s see, we’ve covered the Japan Grand Prixs of the 60s and the Touring Sedan Cup battles of the 70s. How about we finish off our racing vids series with some 80s-tastic silhouette racing? Kev has written about Group 5 before so we won’t rehash the details but if you click this link you can see some of the cars that inspired the bosozoku/kyushakai craze in all their glorious action.

The Silvia and 910 are very cool.
hmm, shouldn’t the title be NISSAN silhouette racing glory days?
hahaha
Niceness, Nissan stylee.
mister k: You’re forgetting about the Mazdas and (though they didn’t show it) the Rodenstock Celica π
That’s a great video!
You can see an interview in it with Hoshino Kazuyoshi (Impul Silvia S110/S12) and Hesemi Masahiro (Tomica Skyline KDR30). True heroes for the bosozoku! π
@ben: the competition didn’t stand a chance against the LZ20B powered trio (Skyline, Silvia and 910), so I wouldn’t call it their glory days… π
Awesome stuff. If you guys like this, try and get your hands on some of the Best Motoring Racing History series. A bit tricky to obtain, but surely accessible.
