Mugen CF-48 wheel returns in very limited quantities

Mugen has announced a remake of its famed CF-48 wheel. Renowned for its functionality. the original was frequently found on tuned Hondas in the 80s, such as CRX, City, and EA/EF Civic. As with anything Mugen, they are pretty rare and expensive now, so a reproduction is certainly going to be welcome in the Honda world.

Originally released in 1984, the CF-48 design was known for its cooling fins. The wheels resembled a heat sink and helped dissipate high temps from brakes during racing. The reverse side of the wheel featured many weight-saving grooves, while aero discs could be attached to the faces for streamlining. The originals came in 12 to 15-inch diameters with various widths and +38 offsets.

Officially called the Mugen CF-48 Glory Labs Edition, the made-in-Taiwan remakes will come in one size only, 4×100 lug pattern in a 15X7J+40 size. While originals were finished in various colors (including white, which was nicknamed “ramen”), these will come in silver only.

Each set will come with a certificate of authenticity and a plaque with a serial number. They are limited to 300 sets of four (1200 wheels total), and will be offered through Mugen distributors, including King Motorsports in the US. Each set will cost $2,127. Pre-orders end on July 15, with delivery expected in Fall of 2025.
