What could this Honda NSX tribute that Italdesign is teasing possibly be?

The renowned carrozzeria Italdesign-Giugiaro has posted a mysterious teaser to social media. Over a blue background reminiscent of Italdesign’s signature color there’s  nothing but the Honda logo with the words “NSX Tribute”. What could it be?`

The caption reads, “A tribute to an iconic car. More to come.” It’s all very mysterious. While some have speculated that it could point to a third-generation NSX, we don’t think that’s it. The “NSX” font is that of the first-gen supercar. Most likely, it’ll be a car similar to the Nissan GT-R50, a reimagined take on a paragon of Japanese motoring.

That would then raise the question on whether it’s a one-off concept or a limited-production hand-built car.

Founded by esteemed designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, Italdesign has penned landmark cars such as the original VW Golf, BMW M1, and Lotus Esprit. Additionally, its Japanese portfolio includes the Isuzu Piazza, Subaru SVX, and first-generation Toyota Aristo/Lexus GS300.

Whatever this is, we’ll be watching with great interest how the firm interprets one of the most revered Japanese cars of all time.

    Fascinating.

I do hope it’s not just a rebody of the original, but a hint at an all new NSX.

Probably jumping on the gravy train of slapping some ugly LEDs and too-big wheels on on old car, calling it “reimagined”, and charging a cool half million for it.
