Cool JDM Videos You Probably Haven’t Heard Of

Everybody knows about JDM car videos like Best Motoring, Hot Version, Video Option, etc, and they’re great entertainment. But if you go to Japan, you’ll realise that those flagship video titles are really just the tip of the iceberg. There are actually lots and lots of much more obscure and specific DVDs on basically anything car-related, from DIY videos on how to assemble an MX5 engine, to enthusiast tribute videos to great old cars like the C10 GT-R.

497_japantrip194.jpgGenerally they are quite difficult to find outside of Japan, but luckily YouTube (and plenty of Japanese enthusiasts) have made them much more widely available nowadays. Here’s an example of a lesser-known title. Basically it’s just a DVD of eye candy of some old JDM iron, starting with the C10 Skyline GT-R and going all the way thru most of the Nissan old school range, and then covering some of the Mazda and Toyota ranges too. Being old JDM iron, lots of the content is very boso, but lots of it is pretty tasty.

If you even find yourself in Tokyo, a very good place to go is the Super Autobacs in Tokyo Bay (take the train to Shinonome Stn, and you can see it from the platform). It has an excellent book and DVD section upstairs.

Without further ado, here are a couple of the Youtube videos I was talking about.
