The B110 Nissan Sunny had one of the most distinctive grilles of all time. It has become a trend to mount its face on new, non-Sunny Japanese cars to evoke a retro feel on the modern machinery. The latest to don the Sunny mask is the Suzuki Jimny, thanks to an aftermarket company called Beyond Japan.
Earlier this summer the Spiegel Fusion kit debuted to put the Sunny grille on another Suzuki popular with customizers, the Carry kei truck. It instantly transformed it into something straight out of the Showa Era.
The Beyond Japan kit, called the Su11 Sunny Face Grille, does the same for Suzuki’s hot-selling off-roader. The grille is finished in unpainted black ABS plastic and is a direct pop-in for the factory grille on the JB64 Jimny, JB74 Jimny Sierra, and JC74 Jimny Nomad 4-door. The Suzuki’s original headlights and turn signals remain undisturbed and the kit reuses the same clips from the OEM grille.
The kit retails for ¥73,700 (approximately $500 USD) and will be made in limited quantities, according to Beyond Japan. It looks completely natural and instantly gives the Jimny a nostalgic vibe. What car will the Sunny grille appear on next?
