2011 Hot Wheels Holiday Hot Rods Datsun 240Z

There’s one more Hot Wheels car we have to mention, and that’s the 2011 Holiday Hot Rods Datsun 240Z. Each year Hot Wheels selects a few castings to don Christmas themed apparel, and this year the Datsun 240Z made the cut.

It’s finished in red, green and white livery  with gold wheels, and the #25 is obviously a nod to the Christ-man’s birthday. Best of all, this is one you don’t have to wait til 2012 to get. It’s available right now at a Wal-Mart near you.

Happy hunting!

I haven’t found any so far in the Walmarts I’ve gone to (jungle right now because of X-Mas). Someone on HWC said to check the Mattel Toy Clubs since we have them here in our area to see if they might have them as well. So far, I think most of the first ones were bought by scalpers. I went to one WM tonight, and could only find one lame car out of the series SMH.

Its funny, there musnt be many hot wheels fans where I live ‘cuz I have plenty of everything!

      • got-rice says:

In LA, the availability of cars to population ratio isn’t good. Places in the Midwest have more WMs per square mile with less population density, therefore, allowing people better odds to find stuff, with a lot less competition. This is why it is hard for Jun to find his own creations at his local store lol. Also, I guess that is one upside for living in areas where there’s not as much things to do.

Well dont forget to try Walgreens, Fred Meyer, Target. The holiday cars are the only ones Ive seen that are exclusive to Wal-Mart… Touche on your last comment. But in rural areas like mine there are way too many man toys to keep track; boats, classic/muscle cars, etc… but thats ‘cuz they have nothing better to do, hahaha!

For sure, if I had to take a trip to some rural place in middle America, I’d probably have more fun going to WMs if I could find lots of Treasure hunts because there isn’t as much else to do. But yeah, I go to those off places like Walgreens, Rite Aid and Ralphs when they have sales because they’re likely to get new cases where the likelihood of finding hunts is better. I just found some Super THs this weekend at a Food4Less.

But as far as regular Mainline cars, all these should be easier months after they are first released. I found more Hakosukas after they first hit, and am now finding Kenmeris especially when stores are selling cars cheaper than $1. The BRE 510 in the soon to be discontinued Vintage Racing line is still challenging to find, and are selling almost doubled retail on eBay.

More good news just keeps on coming… I need another 240Z since I gave the last one I had to a 7-year-old and it’s more than likely smashed and buried now. Treasure for the next kid that lives in that house I’m sure.

I’m digging the orange! I wish they would make one in 112 yellow.

  6. Brownie says:

are these 1:64 scale models? because my HW KPGC10 is larger than my 1:64 Kyosho BLRA-3.

    • John says:

From what I’ve always been told, Hot Wheels cars are NOT any specific scale. Yes, they are all fairly close to 1/64, but they are engineered to basically all be the same size.

While in the real world the Kenmeri Skyline dwarfs a 510, in the Hot Wheels world they are the same size.

      • Tyler says:

Correct. They size them to the package, so a Mazda2 will be “larger” than a 4Runner. Matchbox marks the scale on the bottom but HotWheels seems to avoid this practice.

      • Ben says:

Actually I think they size them to the size of the wheels, so the car looks proportional.

  7. Zegga says:

Any chance of all these old hot wheels cars coming to Australian stores? Anyone found any?

  8. TyFc3s says:

Damn you hot-wheels, why must you force me to step into the dirty, depressing hell that is wal-mart… tis the sacrifice needed to get me hands on a nice hako, ken, or s30..

  9. John says:

FYI, these were $1.94 at my local Wal-Mart last week (double the price of a regular Hot Wheel), but today they were marked down to $0.90! Gotta love when the after Christmas sale discounts something I actually want! 🙂

while that is true. our slower walmart stores here often skip ENTIRE WAVES of stuff because the shelves are still full of product.
I collect transformers too. mostly car-formers and it can be hard finding new stuff locally in a less dense population area.

got my Xmas Z, though! it is lovely. had to order the GT-R from ebay though.

In Southern California, my local stores rarely have the good imports. To find them I go to the Frank and Sons Collector show on Wednesday and Saturday, but with +100% mark-up. Picked up the BRE Datsun 510 for $10.

Prices are approaching Tomicas, which I paid $20 for a 1600GT Celica (TA22) on Watanabe wheels. It’s nice theTomicas can be removed from the box without tearing it apart. No need to buy two.
