“I wanted the car to look like it came out of the dealership back in the 90s and you would see it on the streets of Tokyo,” says Slide Squad’s Mark Hutchinson of his 1992 Nissan Skyline GT-R. Like many of us, Mark’s friend had shown him a Japanese car magazine, and it opened his eyes to a new world of automotive goodness. This was in 1995, and Mark had to wait 22 years to import his dream car.
“If a 19-year-old version of myself could see me now, driving this car, he would just be beside himself,” Hutchinson says in an accompanying article. We can understand why. The R32 Skyline GT-R is a magical machine.

If I could go back to 1990 & tell my then 13yr old self that one day WE own one it would be brilliant.
My first exposure to the King of Monsters was Bathurst 1990. My father told me I was not his son, WE cheer for Holden (Chevy) in this family.
I told him, one day Dad, one day…………
Fast-forward to 2017, & I bought my dream. I drove it home (approx. 300kms for his former owner) with tears welled up in my eyes most of the way.

Although only light-tune, on high boost setting (300kw at all 4 wheels) it still scares my panties into a bunch!!

Nice story. I know exactly what he’s talking about.Everytime i drive my ae86 it’s another kind of experience than say a new car. I drive new toyota’s all day and can’t wait to get behind the wheel of my hachi go!!! Not saying new cars don’t have there place…..just not in MY driveway.
