Official Honda wedding rings for the extremely brand loyal

Do you love Hondas? Like really, really love Hondas? So much that you’d only marry someone that loves Hondas just as much, get married at the Temple of VTEC, and name your kids Grace and Jade and CR-V? Well have we got great news for you. In Japan you can now get officially licensed Honda wedding rings to prove just how faithful you are to the brand.

The rings come from a company called U-Treasure, a name which frankly sounds more like a do-it-yourself pirate ship rental firm than the crafters of symbols of undying love. If it weren’t for the fact that the rings are certified by Honda Motor Co. itself the company would seem rather suspect, but we’ll just chalk that up to the fact that names that sound good in one language might not in another.

In any case the wedding bands can be engraved on the inside with one of 12 different trademarks, half of which are Honda logos used over the decades. The No.12 script “Honda” as found on the 1960s S-series roadsters looks classiest to us, followed by the No.2 wide “H”. The No.1 modern Honda “H” and No.3 wordmark are simply too recognizable as corporate logos and lack the gravitas of something that communicates the lifelong bond between two people. Similarly the No.5 katakana would look more at home on a Showa Era billboard than on a declaration of one’s eternal commitment to another.

But at the end of the day, you’re still just putting the last name of a brilliant but famously curmudgeonly old inventor on the symbol of enduring devotion to your partner. That’s where the model-specific options come in but that opens a whole new can of worms. The Prelude might be a beautifully handling coupe but do you really want a wedding band to say it’s an opening act for something better? The Beat is wickedly fun mid-engined kei roadster but it’s probably not a good idea to put “beat” anywhere in vicinity of “wife”. Integra Type R might be the only appropriate option here.

We know there are some truly hard core Honda heads out there and the knowledge of these rings’ existence will feel like VTEC kicking in, yo. For them, each platinum ring will cost ¥132,000, or about $955 USD. Up to eight additional Japanese characters can be engraved into the band. Just be cognizant of the fact that the rings will take six weeks to ship, but for once this is a JDM product where the company does offer international shipping. If you know anyone devoted enough (to Honda, not their spouse) to get one of these rings, please let us know. We’d love to meet them.

I think this would be a bridge too far for the missus. Actually, if it were my ring she probably wouldn’t be too bothered. I found it best to let her pick out what she wanted for hers.

That said, I am a Simpsons fan and my then fiancee had a Simpsons quote inscribed on the inside my wedding band remembering I had said it would be funny.

    “Don’t forget, you’re here forever”
