Wednesday Wall: Mazda Cosmo Sport & Familia Rotary Coupe

Are you enjoying Mazda Week here at JNC? As we approach SevenStock 14 this Saturday, October 29, we wanted to give you this beautiful wallpaper to decorate your desktop. This is probably the single most famous photo ever taken of Mazda‘s first two rotary cars, the 1967 Cosmo Sport and the 1968 Familia Rotary Coupe (or R100).

As it happens, it’s also the most beautiful photo ever taken of these cars. That beauty comes from the fact that it was actually taken in the late Sixties, with film, and developed in a bath of chemicals. The lighting, the reflections, the stunning richness in color — none of it was photoshopped. You can almost smell nostalgia. Mmmmmm.

Man I have been to 3 different SevenStocks. And I’m so mad I’m out here in cold ass Colorado Springs and will not be able to make this years SevenStock.

Having taken a couple film photo classes before, I marvel at the sheer perfection of this photo. What a great image.

Being a photoshop expert, and worked on countless car brochures for almost 20 years. I’m amazed how this gorgeous photograph was taken in the late 60’s. Now a days, all that detail, contrast, color and sometimes even the environment is completely manufactured.

That’s a test facility, right? Isn’t that the same place where the Toyota 2000GT set a bunch of world endurance records in pouring rain? I can’t remember the name of it.
