1984 Toyota Sports Car Meeting

30 years ago in Japan, a Toyota Sports Car Meeting was held. As you can see from the Zapruder-quality footage, it was a pretty significant affair: 1600GTs, 2000GTs, and Sports 800s of every color imaginable. According to yumejizo, who apparently filmed the event in 8mm, cars from all over the country attended. Think about this: when this event was held, the AE86 had just come out. What a difference 30 years makes. Watch the video below.

Thanks, I may take you up on that one day. 😉
I have several friends in Japan that own Sports 800s, and one friend in Utsunomiya that has a repair shop and has taken me on some fun road trip tours with Sports 800 owners, but I’d always enjoy seeing more.

These guys had no idea that 30 years later the 2000GT would become a million dollar car!

Wow, that’s astonishing. Awesome Corolla hardtop at 0:43!

I love that 2000GT on Hayashi Streets. So glad to see at least one other person doesn’t like the stock wheels on them… 🙂

I shared this video with a bunch of Sports 800 guys I know in Japan. They loved it. A few of them could point themselves (and their cars) out in the video.

Hand me the keys to the Delorean – we need to go back, way way back!

  8. Luis Rodrigu says:

Here in Puerto Rico we also love old Toyota’s
There is even a big big private museum.
