VIDEO: One man’s obsessive collection of high-mileage Acuras

There are all kinds of eccentric car collectors out there, but even among those Tyson Hugie is an oddball. And as he’s a friend of JNC, we mean that in the nicest way. Most of the Honda collectors we encounter are obsessed with classics like the S600 and S800, N- and Z600, or the sports cars like the S2000 and NSX. Tyson, though, collects 1990s Acuras with stratospheric mileage.

There’s an NSX with 113,000 miles, a DA Integra GS-R with 250,000 miles, and a second-gen Legend Coupe with over 565,000 miles. None of his cars look a day over 30,000 either, despite the fact that some have taken some truly epic road trips up from his Phoenix, Arizona home to the North Pole and back.

Plus, he acquires relatively obscure models that don’t typically fall into the “collectible” category, like a Legend sedan (matching his coupe in Desert Mist), an SLX (he sold his previous one to Acura for their restomod project), and a factory 5-speed Vigor. Of course, there are other collections out there that include these cars and more, but Tyson’s portfolio is the 1990s Acura catalog and only that. And that’s pretty cool.

I always wanted a Vigor back in the day. We used to service one at the shop I used to work for. It was a very good car IMHO.

Super nice guy too. I seen a couple of his cars at Pebble Beach.
