Fifty years ago, Mazda Canada started when a Familia Rotary Coupe, known on this side of the Pacific as an R100, went on sale. To celebrate half a century of sales, Mazda Canada released a flashback video covering significant milestones and models.
We hate to be that guy, but the video is not without mistakes. The most glaring one is at 1:20 saying that the SA22 RX-7 debuted in 1974 (it was launched in May 1978). Oops. Oh well, it’s a momentous occasion nevertheless. Our rotor-head JNCers to the north should still have something to celebrate.
UPDATE: Mazda Canada has updated the video to reflect the correct year of the RX-7’s debut in Japan. We really, really hate to be that guy again, but Millenia is still misspelled, meaning it is spelled like the actual word, not the way Mazda spelled it in the 90s.

You’re welcome……I’ve been reading JNC for years and somehow when I see an error, I politely tell them to fix some issues and then a day later…..it was well-respond to see it is fixed

Although you can trace bluetooth roots to 1994 like the video shows, it wasn’t really standardized for consumers until 1999 and people in North America weren’t using smart phones until the early to mid 2000s. Neither technology coincides with the 787b or FD Rx-7 displayed immediately afterward.
Canada didn’t get the Mazda3 and Mazda6 until the 2004 model year. In 2003 they were still selling the Protege5.
Nice job editing the video…but maybe do some fact checking and you know, ask someone who was born this century if the copy is correct before publishing?
