VIDEO: This bosozoku biker chase deserves some Benny Hill music

It’s tough being a city cop in Japan. First, you have to drive a kei car. Then, at night, gangs of bosozoku bikers close off intersections and basically lead you on a circular chase while other ne’er-do-wells launch fireworks and generally get in your way. Also, this is why the average Japanese citizen does not think the bosozoku are cool rebels, but disruptive nuisances. It’s still kind of funny, though.

The officer in the kei jidosha has no good choices before backup arrives, since knocking the biker over is unthinkable on several levels. Sitting there doing nothing looks almost as bad as a pointless circular chase, if not worse. Getting out of the car to get to the bosozoku will give the maladjusted rider a chance to ride off with few chances of being caught. That has to be one of the most frustrating jobs.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are officers driving in Nissan Skyline GTRs. It almost sounds like a recipe for a less interesting, law enforcement take on the premise at the start of the great anime Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise. A youth has glorified visions of being an officer, pursuing speeders on the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway in a GTR. It turns out that he or she isn’t up to par and ends up patroling in a kei car, writing tickets for minor offenses and getting taunted by bosozoku.

Also, this title couldn’t be any better. Cue the Yackity Sax. Hahahahahahaha!

I was so waiting for the Benny Hill theme song, bit disappointed, but perhaps someone will overlay that onto the vid. If you did this in Merica, well, you would be forced off the bike by either a punch, hit, door open, you name it and well, it would be just day in day out booking going into jail after that, if you just pull over, you have better chances of not making a scene or a fool out of anyone. Wonder what he may have done to attract the attention of the police in the first place, if it was profiling since he had the wild altered bike, well then, that is no fun now is it??
