QotW: Which JNC would you name your kid after?

As we’ve mentioned before, there are some new babies joining the JNC family. While there are many great girls’ names in the JNC world, there aren’t many choices for boys. Brandon Kelly and his wife got there first last week, with the birth of their baby boy Maximus. I happen to think Cedric Hsu has a great ring to it but sadly my other half has vetoed it. Surprisingly, she’s totally on board with it being a car name, but believes that Cedrics are too obscure in the US and that everyone will think of Cedric the Entertainer instead (an assumption that has proven correct thus far). I guess I’ll have to insist on my second choice, AE86. Is it even a good idea to borrow a name from the JNC world?

Which JNC would you name your kid after?

The most entertaining comment by next Monday will receive a prize. Scroll down to see the winner of last week’s QotW, “What are the rules of the road for your JNC?

The answers this week were wide and far-ranging in scope. Negishi no Keibajo hilariously surrendered to the inevitable when driving an old car (we feel your pain, friend), Howard Drespain‘s level of strictness was truly admirable, and the suspiciously named Dommy T‘s rules sounded somewhat familiar. Ultimately, the winner this week was Mike RL411, whose grants us with the following wisdom:

No smoking, booze locked in the trunk even if not opened, no farting when on internal air circulation.

Omedetou! Your comment has earned you a set of decals from the JNC Shop.

Bongo Frendee sounds like a groovy frood who knows where his towel is. (This is why I don’t have children)

  2. banpei says:

As long as you find Ken Hsu to marry a Mary, it sounds like a definite winner to me! 😀

For me personally I haven’t thought a split second to name my children after JNCs, but we already had a challenge to find a name that was pronounceable in both Dutch and Hungarian languages. 😉

  3. Scotty G says:

(Subaru 360) “Young S” for me.

  4. dankan says:

With a daughter, as I have, the only choice can be Gloria. But instead she got an Alfa Romeo middle name with Julia. The first name is properly Japanese instead, so her passport has actual kanji on it.

  5. Kouper says:

Not seeing Silvia yet and I have to say as one of the most beautiful cars out there (all gens but the first and the final are tops in my opinion,) it deserves a shoutout. It’s also a great name for that fun but slightly off kilter girl you know who’s really just great to everyone but a little too energetic… Actually that just sounds like my own daughter.

Of course, the reason I chose the silvia is because naming my daughter Skyline doesn’t work, and BNR32 is just asking for her to be nicknamed boner which is totally not ok.

  6. John Moran says:

    Santino

At first I was going to make a joke about how naming your kid after a Daihatsu would make them popular at parties (“Hey, guess who just showed up? Move Aerodown Custom, Consorte, and Naked Turbo! This party’s gonna be lit!)

But then I got to looking at their car names, and they’re actually quite good as people names:
    For girls:
Mira, Ayla, Sigra, Sirion, Xenia, Cocoa, Ceria, Charmont, Domino, Leeza, Sonica, Vesta, and Valera
    For boys:
Altis, Atrai, Boon, Mebius, Tocot, Tanto, Terios, Thor, Wake, Max, and Rocky.

  8. Angelo says:

Imagine, naming your son Mighty Boy..

Now, he’d be the little kid that could lol

  9. My girlfriend is intent on Clio for a daughter but I thi k Nissan Gloria Turbo Brougham VIP Super Selection Ⅱ Is a much better name.

  10. iMark says:

    This is too easy…

    I’d name my kid BRAT.

Depending on when it was born (regardless of gender) I’d choose the following future JNC names:

    -AXIOM

    -LEVORG

    -VELLFIRE

  11. dc says:

Ben, If you love the AE86 name your son Levin! It means lightning and thunderbolts!

  12. Josh says:

Lancer for a boy and Celeste for a girl! And since the Lancer Celeste was a captive import (in North America at least), the kid will be equally at home in JNC and classic domestic circles. Best of both worlds!

  13. Hmmm… Car name for kids?
I’m sorry bro… We already have it all in Indonesia.

This is a pic for two family card in Indonesia.

  14. Bert says:

Supra! Cause mi kid is super! The end.

  15. james says:

This is hypothetical (and for personal reasons I can’t have/nor want kids)Cosmo or Levin/Trueno if its a boy, Cressida or Celica if its a girl.

  16. james says:

or how about Cefiro(Boy) and Sunny(Girl)

  17. Dutch 1960 says:

Nobody’s claimed it yet, so maybe my (so-far) hypothetical granddaughter can be named Savanna. But no way my grandson is going to be named Cosmo.

  18. エーイダン says:

If it’s a daughter, then the name Asüna after the Local-market rebadge of the Isuzu Piazza/Impulse coupe from 1993 (not the similarly-named female anime character). For a son, Lancer. I mean, how awesome would that be? To be named ‘Lancer’…..

  19. Dhana p says:

I’ve named my kid Levin. It well matched with him because Levin means lightning or thunderbolts and he born on the day with hard rain 😀

Miura will be the name for my second kid. You know why it must be name for a girl, the most beautiful car in the world.

  20. Lupus says:

Colt (from Mitsubishi). Not totaly JDM, assosiated more with USA gun culture, but hey – that’s not backdraw. I know it’s esentially an American last-name, but why not use it as a first-name for a boy? Imagene your kid intruducing himself to a gal at his teenage: “My name is Johnson. COLT Johnson.” Wet panties guareteed .8)

  21. Kohen says:

Definitely agree on Cosmo, good name for a boy, if a little zany!
I’ve always like the name Bellett, think it would work for a girl. Luce would work too.

  22. Selleeka says:

    Delica for a girl.
