Well, it seems JNC readers are a pessimistic bunch. Most expected one Hollywood dystopia or another, whether it was Mad Max, Blade Runner, or Demolition Man. Luckily 2020 isn’t quite that bad, though we didn’t get Bob’s flying cars. The winner centinel, summed it up nicely:
Growing up in the 1970’s, I honestly thought we’d be living in gleaming, domed utopias teeming with cars resembling the Firebird III Concept and spotless freeways. It would be just like Syd Mead predicted (R.I.P). Instead we’re all in bigger, heavier, tanks that get worse mileage than a 1980’s CRX. Sorry, Syd, we failed you.

I think my New Years resolution is to educate myself more on cars, and finally get myself my first JNC project car to restore. I want the pride of owning a JNC and being able to say “I fixed this!” In addition to learning more about the car and everything that makes it tick, becoming closer with it.

It should be easy to convince your parents with the following statements:
NAs are rarer than NBs and therefore more valuable and less replacable, meaning they go up in value over time and you’ll take better care of it by trying not to crash it. Therefore they are “safer” than any NB. 😉
Get a grip on my collecting diecast JDM cars. Thank god Hot Wheels slowed down on introducing new JNC castings for this year’s lineup, however there’s plenty of 1950s and 1960s Lesney cars and ’70s Tomicas and Corgi cars to find….Damn.
Sorry but Hot Wheels is still at it. Yesterday I found these two in my local CVS drug store grab box as I entered.

Sell the AE86 and restore the Carina TA60 to former glory. I’ve taken the first step towards the latter goal today and “detuned” it by taking out the Celica Supra seats.
New Years resolution: buy your AE86
My (real) JNC New Years resolution is to get my 240Z running, then get it running reliably, and then repair the floors. And replace the battery tray. And make sure the doors actually latch. And get hinges for the hatch. And paint it. And get new tires. And maybe get new wheels. Yeah, wheels are important. And have it ready (enough) to drive it out to the local import show in May, where they are celebrating 50 years of the Z. And to avoid the temptation of any other projects and distractions that might pop up on Craigslist. And get started with my Dad on his ’73 Celica GT. One thing at a time though. I have carbs to clean.
I need to finally get off my lazy butt and assemble the pile of parts that is my 1973 240z. I’ve got all the sheet metal, and the skills to get it done, but lack the motivation. Sorry everyone, but it isn’t staying original. There’s a VH45DE, a 370z 6-speed, and an R32 rear end that are going in.
Well, off to an expensive start!
I bought the Project Car Magazine M30. Typically I don’t buy other people’s projects.. but this was THAT M30 and my friend Koji built it. It’s been a drift missile for a few years with a blown #6 ringland and that owner took out the RB25det transmission and Greddy intake manifold (which I also had to source and buy).
Right before Christmas, I had the car towed to the SR20 Store (original builder of the car) and I flew down for a few hours just to see the car and meet with friends for a few hours.

The only thing I don’t have here is the hood (it is in Japan awaiting shipping).

The New year’s resolution is to get this car back to the level it was 10 years ago and then put the JDM touches to stand out. My leopard friends in Japan were surprised I bought this car because the car is also known in Japan because of the Magazine coverage.
My new years resolution is to take my AE86 to the track and get as much seat time as possible, which also includes making her more track-worthy.
Last November, I went to my first track day at NCM Motorsports park in Bowling Green KY and it was literally the most fun I’ve ever had in my AE86. 20 minute sessions of wide open throttle around a legitimate track, no traffic, no cops, etc. It was like playing Gran Turismo but in real life Lol.
My resolution is to get projects completed without taking as long as I have in the past, and doing more roadtrips in my FB than I did last year. In no particular order I have SSR Star Sharks to re-lip, a spare 12a to bridgeport, a factory Clarion cassette receiver to get working again, and I need to find out whether it’s safe to tow the FB with my 1st gen Montero..
