QotW: What’s your JNC New Year’s resolution?

It’s a new year, people! 2018 is upon us, and that means another 52 weeks, or 365.25 days, or 8,766 hours, or 525,949 minutes, or 31,556,926 seconds to make a dent in the JNC project of your dreams (well, not literally, we hope). Whoops — now it’s 31,556,925 seconds.

What’s your JNC New Year’s resolution?

The most entertaining comment by next Monday will receive a prize. Scroll down to see the winner of last week’s QotW, “What did you ask JDM Santa Claus for this year?”

We feel the pain of this week’s winner, Jim Simpson. For Jim did not ask for money, swag, or some rare unobtainable part. He asked for something that’s more abstract, something that’s a lot harder to come by, but something we all wish we had: time. More — dang, now there’s Now there’s 31,556,919 seconds left — specifically:

Time to finish restoring my 1965 Silvia

Omedetou! Your comment has earned you a set of decals from the JNC Shop.

Ha. I really appreciate good humor and good writing, both of which are here every day. We don’t usually comment on just how hard it is to be a creative writer, yet still be as technical as possible. The JNC team has it down to both an art and a science. Little details like “Whoops — now it’s 31,556,925 seconds.” That didn’t have to be there but it just made the world a little bit of a better place because it was there.

My resolution is to try not to just buy vehicles because they seem like a good deal, but because I’m passionate about them. To get down to a couple of real quality JNC examples that I’ll actually drive, rather than a bunch of “cheap” good deal cars that are just sitting in storage. I’ll never be Myron or Jay Leno, what am I thinking?! All best to the JNC team and everyone in 2018!

  2. Geoff says:

Finish at least one JNC project and get my racing license again!

  3. Brignola says:

Finally start the hot wheels collection I’ve been putting off for so long ‘cause grown ups don’t play with toy cars

    • Rotsun77 says:

Careful what you wish for Brignola! The staff at JNC, through no fault of their own, was so kind as to rekindle my childhood flame of hotwheels cars. Which lead to filling more shelf space than I’d like to admit with miniature die-cast replicas of all my favorite classics.

Which in itself isn’t anything too terribly bad, but my wife never ceases to giggle every time I demand to go look at the toy aisle while grocery shopping so I can forage for the latest wide-bodied Z car. The occasional ear piercing whine from a toothless bratty kid tends to draw a “WAIT YOUR TURN!” response, making me realize the significant age gap doesn’t necessarily equate to advanced maturity, making me feel more like a Billy Bob Thornton character in a Bad Santa movie than a civilized human being… Take my advice and check Ebay or Amazon!

All that aside my resolution would probably be to put the small fortune of parts I’ve amassed to good use and finally stop procrastinating with my current project. As soon as the sub arctic temperatures no longer threaten to flash freeze any exposed digits before I even have a chance to turn a bolt.

I have indeed fallen into the endless pit that is Hot Wheels collecting. The good news, they’re still about $1 retail! The bad news, I spend $20 in gas running all over town to find that elusive Honda City…

I do like seeing the father-son team digging through and having a blast. Watch out for the cardboard paper cuts kiddo!

  4. Brian B says:

I’m truly torn…have a ‘12 MS3 factory stock with 50k miles. Always wanted one and finally found a 1owner with low miles in 2015. I have a thing for factory cars, but want a stage 1 kit. I think I’ve made my mind up & do the upgrades this year!

  5. Andrij Mishalow says:

My Resolution? Mine is to get a JNC product and restore/restomod it. It has been a few years since a JNC product graced my driveway, and since we have moved to a place with a garage, I can now store something while I work on it 🙂

  6. Steve says:

To get my 80 yota pickup a new engine and learn to drive a stick. I’ve got a grand invested into cosmetics and a JNC sticker on the window and I’ve pushed it more than drove it.

  7. Iceman says:

My goal for this year is to get my 510 on the road again after far too long. Initial target is the 2018 Mitty, but that may be a bit aggressive lacking a heated garage for the next two months.

  8. Tom Sand says:

250hp in my Datsun 720 is my goal, possibly try to break the 300hp barrier if the turbo can deliver. Whats the problem with that you might ask? I’m tuning one of the most unpopular nissan engines; the Z series engine, but if gibson racing could squeeze out 300 from a 1.8 in 1983 then I’m damn sure gonna do it or kill the engine trying!
