Update 2/18: Big shoutout to the JNC fam for getting us halfway there! Full story to come later but please help us continue spreading the word! With your help, we were able to recover the AE86 (with a few battle scars) mostly intact in under 24 hours!

I’m completely devastated. I’ve owned the AE86 for over 20 years and have spent most of that time babying it and restoring the few things it had wrong. I believe it to be one of the most original AE86s in the country. It had a perfect interior, no cracks.
We suspect that they were not stolen by an enthusiast, most likely someone looking to score some quick cash.
Also offering a no questions asked. $1,000 for each car’s safe return.

Completely devastating. Ben, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. This and a garage fire are the worst things an enthusiast can suffer.
Glad the AE86 has survived and my fingers are crossed that the FD can recover.

Ugh, sorry to read this. Couldn’t have been much help as I live in Indiana. But I hope the AE86 is relatively unscathed and that the FD winds up being not too badly damaged.
People can really suck.

Maybe you can do a fundraiser of some sort to repair the FD?
Oh no! First time I read this I thought you were posting it to help a fellow enthusiast, only second time around did I realise they’re YOUR hachi-roku & FD that are gone!
For a long while I didn’t even bother fixing the door locks on my FD, on the basis that a turbo rotary without any maintenance paperwork wouldn’t be worth having. IMO it’s a good thing that these cars are now appreciated for how special they are, unfortunately the flip-side of the rising values for these cars is risk of unspeakable people trying to take what’s not theirs.
I hope both cars can be fully restored and sorted out – RX-7s are quite repairable I think. Do let us all know how things shake out, once you can.
I think the worst two things that can happen as a car enthusiast are first, crashing your car, and second, someone stealing it. So look after yourself, take your time, things will come good in the end I’m sure.
