MINICARS: 2013 Hot Wheels Flying Customs to include Datsun 510, Nissan Skyline GT-R and A60 Supra

Some more exciting news from our friends at Mattel. For 2013 there will be a new line of premium 1970s-inspired cars called the Flying Customs, which will include some of our favorite castings, including the ’82 Toyota Supra, Datsun Bluebird 510 and Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R

This being a premium line, the cars will have metal bodies and chassis, which is of some significance to collectors. Flying Customs cars will supplant the 1980s inspired Hot Ones line, which included such cars like the Honda CR-X, ’87 Toyota Pickup, Subaru BRAT and ’82 Supra (shown above). We are excited that the 510 and kenmeri will be joining the pantheon of select Hot Wheels that have premium metal chassis. You can read the full list at the Lamley Group blog.

  4. Toyotageek says:

This is good news indeed! Even though these cars in the Hot Ones series are hard to come by around my whereabouts…
Anyways, looking forward to the new releases. 🙂

  5. Steve says:

There is growing fear among collectors that these final batches of Hot Ones won’t find their way to the bigbox stores, and that would mean the Supra, Toyota Truck, and BRAT would remain hard to find. Still no reports of them here in the States, outside of hobby dealers that got them, and the Flying Customs are already being found in stores. Maybe in a few months they appear at stores like Tuesday Morning. Let’s hope.

We talked about Mattel’s habit of ending lines early here:

If Johnny Lightning can do it, so should Mattel…

    Make a Toyota 2000GT!

And when your done with that I wanna see a Darwin Roadster!

  8. ken says:

I have found plenty of the CRX, but like everyone else, no Supra, BRAT or Truck 🙁

  9. Hung says:

They forgot to mention about the 1970 Toyota Celica. It is already out in the stores.

  10. Cherry X1R says:

I just now got the crx, i was shopping in mijer and there they were. snapped up two of them. I’m always going to the stores hoping that I’ll find the supra, the 87 Toyota pickup and the one I want the most, the Subaru brat, but I always get shot down. I have looked on line and they sell them for ludicrous prices I saw one guy on ebay selling the crx for 20 bucks a pop by it self and people still bought them. after shipping it would have been over 25 bucks. I love mattel for getting their act together and issuing great models again but sometimes I REALLY HATE THEM and their special car line shenanigans. when you make a car line you make it accessible to EVERYONE, anywhere.
