International Vehicle Importers fire 2

International Vehicle Importers has posted a list of the cars that have been lost in the warehouse fire on the evening of May 1 that claimed the lives of two company employees’ dogs. There were a dozen imported JDM cars lost, as well as several other cars, motorcycles and personal items owned by employees that were stored in the building.

Here’s the list, as compiled by manager Sean Morris:

12: 1990 Skyline GT-R, KH2

In the same post, Morris also alleges that an illegal marijuana-growing operation located in a neighboring unit was responsible for a circuit breaker overload, which sparked the fire. This, however, was not confirmed by the Ontario, California fire department, who has yet to release a report on the cause of the fire.

no lives were lost? you forgot that two dogs were dead(sadly) in the fire…..and I hope somebody shut down that illegal weed-growing operation that causes this….more likely call the DEA for this…..

      • Robin says:

Ah No, crap I probably skipped that when looking at the pics

        Feel real Bad now.

well then more sick to my stomach for the Dogs.
        RIP little ones.

        The cars can be replaced…
        Thanks for correcting me XRaider

The worst part is the loss of the dogs. 🙁

Here is a photo of the warrant; dicks next door overloaded the power with their pot operation…..fire 🙁

      You must have missed this?

“And while IVI maintains that these suspected growers caused the fire by overpowering a circuit breaker, multiple on-scene experts disagreeing seems to disprove that theory fairly conclusively.”

Being a typical puritan, you like the owner, are looking for a convenient scapegoat. The greedy arse with the cars is more likely to commit insurance fraud.

    • Randy says:

Read the article and comments, which reminded me – there was a brand of breakers that were known for higher failure rates (not tripping). Insurance agent told me about them. That’s one of the reasons they want a picture of the circuit panel when you buy a house; not just whether it’s breakers or fuses, but that it’s NOT the particular BRAND of breakers. It’s POSSIBLE there was a problem with them, or, as the one commenter said, they may have been bypassed altogether.

May have been an electrical problem in some other place that manifested there, but the timing just seems “odd.”

Wouldn’t it be something though, if it turned out rodents were chewing on the wires and THAT caused it?

It’s been a rough year for fires. In April, I lost my prized ’73 Cadillac and my lifelong friend lost 16 of his cars in the same building fire. We can say “they’re just cars”, but one of the cars my friend lost was the ’69 Impala convertible he and his wife dated in 30 years ago. Cars like that can’t be replaced.

    • Randy says:

Sucks… I had a ’69 Impala Sport Coupe (the fastback-y one). Probably still the favorite American car of my past…

You’re right about “can’t be replaced.” That’s why I’m so difficult about modding oldsters.

Not only is there the loss to deal with, but now the insurance/legal battle begins. I just lost a vehicle from no fault of my own a few months ago. I don’t wish that battle on anyone. Only lawyers win. 🙁

So sad to hear this kind of news. People’s lives are impacted by the loss of loved pets as well as the major interruption to a business with great prospects. When you see this kind of story on the evening news it can be so ho-hum until it effects somebody in your community or family. We’re all community and family here in the JNC world, we share the pain!
