Nissan’s legendary S20 engine costs $50,000 or more, but here’s one you can get for just a fraction of that price. Not only that, but you can get all the renowned Skyline powerplants — as long as you don’t mind having them at a fraction of the size.
Kusaka Engineering not your traditional model kit manufacturer. It’s more of a Skyline lifestyle company that makes everything from coasters to keitai straps, shelves for your collection of GT-R magazine to name plates (as in the kind you post in front of your house that say “Yamamoto Residence and yes, I own a Skyline GT-R.”
After five years in business, they are taking on their most ambitious project yet — highly detailed, 1:6 scale Godzilla hearts. The project began as a celebration of the R32 RB26DETT’s 25th anniversary, but has now grown to include several versions, including R33 and R34 motors. There’s even the gold-top Nürburgring edition, as well as modified versions that represent the Skyline’s most famous tuners: NISMO, Tomei and Mine’s.
Kusaka Engineering was showing its wares at the NISMO Festival, and our friend Yuichi Ikegaya was there to preview their next undertaking: the FJ20ET from the DR30 Skyline. Currently, it’s just a valve cover, but the detail displayed in just this one piece should give you an idea of just how exacting the details of these scale engines are. Each motor sells for ¥32,400 ($274 at current exchange rates) including tax and shipping. The tuned versions cost a bit more: ¥46,440 for the Tomei and ¥48,600 for the NISMO or Mine’s. So, buying six of these 1:6 scale models for $2,500 and turning them into one full-sized GT-R motor.. no, that probably wouldn’t work..
Yeah, but you can make it into a 36(!) cylinder superengine! I’m pretty sure if you had a Subaru 360 or something alike the 36 cyl microengine would make it fly. Straight towards the orbit. (Of the moon)

Ooh, I wonder if they plan on expanding to other JNC powerplants. I’d get a 4-AGE and SR20DET redtop in a heartbeat. An L28E with all the vacuum lines would be really cool too.
