KIDNEY, ANYONE? Toyota hoarder selling off entire collection

It appears we have found the answer to what lies at the end of the rainbow: a collection of old Toyotas in various states of disrepair. Just outside of Las Vegas, a seller is purging a literal lot of Aichi steel from the 1970s. You can buy them individually or all at once, but the seller is moving and needs them gone.

The cars range from a sporty Corolla coupe to a grand Cressida, with a couple of Celicas and Coronas in between. The best of the bunch appears to be a brown 1978 Celica GT Liftback, which is advertised as having a brand new radiator, gas tank, and fuel pump. It looks to be a typical budget build, with brakes and suspension of unknown origin.

Other cars are less complete. Those include a 1975 Celica and a 1980 Corona with both five doors and five speeds. Body-wise, they both appear to be decent. The Corona has its original finish and still looks presentable. The Celica will probably require a paint job at some point. However, for both of these the head is detached, so some assembly is required.

And then there’s a resprayed 1975 Corolla SR5 that “ran when parked” and a 1978 Cressida with a halfway-done Lexus 1UZ V8 swap. Someone with a lot of time and elbow grease to spare can probably salvage these, but they might be too far gone.

Somehow, this ad brings me a feeling of sadness. We all want to save as many cars as we can, but in reality there are projects we will probably never get to. I could easily see myself in this situation, and as someone who easily falls in love with cars it would be hard for me to let them go. Hopefully, at least some of these will find good homes. Although the picture is NOT a TE37 SR5, if there really is one, maybe…
They were a big improvement over the TE27s: smoother flares, integrated A/C, triple gauges, and a hardtop design.

Well it looks like it COULD be an SR5 because there is another pic that looks like the flares were removed, but there is also a grille from a standard Corolla. No title, yeah, parts car…

  2. Long Beach Mike says:

Those look like Watanabe EightSpokes on the Celica. If so, they might be worth more than the rest of the car.

    🙂

He’ll probably feel like a 12,500 pound weight has been taken off his shoulders.

That said, he WILL regret selling that ‘75 Celica for $4,000.

I would love to have that white 1980 Corona hatch 5-speed

If I thought I could manage to organize shipping on that ’75 Celica before someone local bought it…gah. Great deal for someone.
