KIDNEY, ANYONE? 2,500-mile Toyota 2000GT sells for $4.1 million

This is getting ridiculous. If you thought prices on J-tin have been skyrocketing before, you ain’t seen nothing yet. A 1967 Toyota 2000GT, the bluest of the Japanese blue chip classics, has sold for $4.1 million. That price obliterates the previous record of $1.15 million set in 2013. A possible key? This particular 2000GT, though modified with RS-Watanabe racing wheels, has fewer than 2,500 miles on the odometer.

Luckily, only the suspension and wheels appear to have been modified. Those are easily reversible to stock if one wishes, and that could probably tack on a few more hundred thousand onto the price. It is an mind-boggling price that sets new standards for Nihon steel. See the auction here.

Oooooohhhh! I saw this very car in the car show about a year ago. I was talking to the owner about potential buyers and curious about auction protocols. It turns out he has an agent that does the dirty work. Nice down to earth guy. He told me all about the day he bought it. Apparently he smeared model glue over the windshield on the first try. 😛

I’m loving those Saturn-quality panel gaps.

Same time every year; and I fall for it every year.

LOL! First, thank you for selecting my answer to the QOTW about brutal JNC price inflation. I was about to submit a reply rescinding my answer when I saw this post. Good thing I didn’t have access to the internet over the weekend or else I might have given up my stickers!!!

    LOL, again!!!
