JNC GEAR: The IDx shirt, by the actual car’s designer at Nissan

JNC IDx Shirt

The hottest concept of the 2013-14 auto show season was the Nissan IDx. A lightweight, rear-wheel-drive car with heritage styling cues from the Golden Age of nostalgics? Take our money, please! Now one of the designers of the actual concept car has created this shirt in collaboration with JNC, which we will be debuting at Nissan Jam. UPDATE: The IDx shirt is now available in the JNC shop

We had no idea when we reported on it from the Tokyo Motor Show that the IDx would cause the commotion that it did. Then one of the car’s designers turned out to be a JNC reader and engaged our commenters in a thoughtful and spirited conversation that became our most-commented on thread in JNC history.

Nissan didn’t even know if they’d build it. Since then, the IDx has gone on to win many accolades, including Car Design News‘s “Concept of the Year,” and has received such an astounding response that Nissan greenlit it for production, possibly even with a good old fashioned manual transmission.

“JNC IDx” will be our first ever shirt created by a guest designer, and we couldn’t have asked for a better one than one of the men who penned the IDx itself.  The commemorative shirt is red, white and gold ink on charcoal gray 100% cotton, with an IDx yellow JNC logo on sleeve. As usual we will debut the collectible shirt at the show, this Sunday June 15, and sell the rest on online afterwards in the JNC shop.
