Happy Z32 Day from JNC

Sleek lines, twin turbos, and enough swag to steal Barbie away from Ken. That was the 1990-96 Nissan 300ZX. Let’s all rewatch one of the greatest car commercials of all time (it was so great in fact that the 300ZX had already been discontinued when it aired) today, March 2, also known as Z32 Day.

Funny video.. what only a specialist can see are the wrong way rim designs on this small car! normally left is right and right is left design! (it’s terrible how many tire mechanics put them on wrong! despite the big L and R on the rims..) When installed in the right way the design sucks the air from under the car away!! (better cooling for the brakes.) 😉

    Happy BNR32 day too!

  5. Adam says:

I somehow lived my life without seeing this one. Thank you for fixing that!

  6. Someone big directed this ad. I want to say David Fincher. But I am probably wrong. He did direct the big budget Honda Del Sol ad six years later.

  7. BW says:

No love for Godzilla on this March 2nd?

    BNR32 for the win.

  8. Keith Measures says:

As a kid I never understood who the man at the end was. Now I know its Mr. K… What a great ad

Fittingly, I’m helping my friend rebuild the power steering pump on his Z32 this afternoon. Mine is blessedly free of leaks AT THE MOMENT.

I don’t know how many recall how dark a time that was when that 300ZX TV spot came out. (The whole auto industry was facing the sports car bust.) Not only did Nissan pull the 300ZX, they pulled all sporty cars from their North American line up. A statement on their website (Canada), in essence, said Nissan was no longer a maker of sports car and was instead focusing on sedans/SUVs/Trucks. As an S30 and Z32 at that time, it was a devastating thing to read.
