A new JNC Wagon is on the horizon

toyota-cressida-jnc-wagon

We are headed to San Francisco today to pick up what could be the next JNC Wagon. After nine years of service, our current one, a Cressida, is being taken off the road for some proper care. It has taken us all over the west coast, to nearly every show you’ve seen on this site, but it’s getting small and just a little bit worn out from SoCal’s harsh roads and sun. It needs some TLC. We’re scheduled to see the new car when we arrive tonight. If things go as planned we’ll be posting photos if the new ride tonight or tomorrow morning. Any guesses as to what it might be?

Not sure, but if it’s in SF I might recognize the car or know the owner! Can’t wait to see it!

  4. The title of the post is a hint. The answer is “Plymouth Horizon.”

I would say WRX but that’s even smaller. Accord or Camry are no bigger and FWD. Civic 4WD maybe? But that’s still not bigger. Of course I’m prejudiced towards my ’69 510….Hey, I know, you’re getting a Maxima diesel with a turbo and the stack coming out of the hood! WooHoo!

    Infiniti Q45

1973 Toyota Crown. Coolest JNC wagon evah. Well, a 1974 Mazda RX-4 wagon is a close second.

I’d say your gonna keep it in the Toyota Family, so:

    Toyota Camry or Corolla All-Trac?

Then again, I’m gonna buck the Toyota and say Mitsubishi Delcia?

  11. Dimitry Mochkin says:

    I’d say a Land Cruiser.

So what does the Cressida actually need done? It looks good in all the pix I’ve seen…

That’s cause I take the pics from far away. There’s a few dings and lots of chips if you look up close!

      • Randy says:

Soooo, Dr. Color Chip, and a trip to the Paintless Dent Repair place, and you’re good to go!

In previous stories about the car, I saw NO rust – try pullin’ THAT off in Pittsburgh – so I’d think the biggest things would be mechanical, and mileage-related. New water pump and timing belt/chain; new brakes/rotors/drums, and all should be fine.

Clearly you don’t beat on it, even if it DOES go sometimes somewhat off-road, so I don’t think there’s anything major to do.
